Vacation!

Andy and I had a great time in Idaho for Thanksgiving and a pre-deployment vacation. We spent a lot of time with family and saw some friends and just soaked up every minute of our time together. It's going to be busy for the days ahead, but we will figure it out :)

I'll let the pictures do the talking since we took tons of them! (these are only some)

My mom took this of us before we went to take family pictures on Andy's side.

We got some great pictures of us outside that my little sister took....

Possible Christmas card?

No, Daisy didn't go... but she can't be left out of the card! ;)

We kept our nephew Jaron one night, he's almost 3 and it's such a fun age!!! We miss our sweet nephews already!

Top left is my sister and I, the middle is my SIL and Jaron, bottom is my brother and his girlfriend, bottom right is my mom and my brother, and then Andy with 3 of our 5 nephews.

We were able to see my little brother who is in the Marines for a few days... I'm so proud of this guy!

Us with Jaron after pictures were over

Andy was tired of pictures by this point ;)

Nate, Karissa and Dani dog.

We got to see our sweet friend Tonia....

and Andy's best friend Luke and his new bride and sweet daughter Grace.

Tonia and her husband Brad are also my parents neighbors :)
(that's my mom and dad if you haven't been able to tell already)

This was on our way to Idaho in the Denver USO.

A sneak peak of some of the family pictures.

Checking in!

We are having a great time on vacation!
It's been relaxing but we've been able to do a lot of things. I'll have more of a vacation update this weekend when we get home and I can dump all the pictures... but I did want to share with you some of our pre-deployment photos I had my little sister take of Andy and I.

We just went out behind my parents house and in their yard....so nothing too fancy but I'm happy with how they turned out.

This is probably my favorite of all the ones we took.

love his kisses!

his smile is the best :)

Love holding his hand!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and a good week so far!
See you soon!

Idaho Bound....

She grew up on a side of the road
Where the church bells rang and strong love grows
She grew up good
She grew up slow
Like American honey....

Steady as a preacher
Free as a weed
Couldn't wait to get goin
But wasn't quite ready to leave
So innocent, pure and sweet
American honey

The Rodriguez's are homeward bound...

From our home to yours....
Happy Thanksgiving!

Andy and I are celebrating the next week with our friends and family in Idaho... so the blog will be on a little hiatus during that time. I'll be back with lots of pictures and details about our trip!

P.S. I should clarify ... my last post meant "goodbye for now, South" not goodbye blog! :)

Goodbye for now...

Growing up I have always wanted to live in the South... so when Andy got his orders for Fort Stewart, Georgia I was pretty excited! I mean... big hair and sweet tea... what more could a West coast girl want, right??

That was almost two years ago... and let me be the first to tell you... I've learned SO much living here! For those of you or y'all as they say down here, here are a few things I've learned since coming to the deep deep southern part of good ol' U S of A!

States that are considered the South.....

- Grits go with every meal. Seriously. You can eat shrimp & grits, biscuits and gravy and grits, chicken and grits, and you can put nearly anything in them! I didn't even know what a grit was until I came down here!

- There's a certain way to say "Y'all" ... it's not "ya'll" or "yowall" it's "y'all".

- Tea is not tea unless it's sweet. And you don't just add some sugar to some tea... no, it's a whole afternoon lesson.

and don't be surprised if it comes in a mason jar

- Instead of saying someone is a mess,  you just say "bless their heart" and everyone knows what you really mean.

- The ladies down here dress up for a football game. Heels and dresses ladies... no t-shirt and jeans. And don't even bring up their football unless you are ready for a discussion. The women down here know SEC football more than half the guys I've ever met know about football!

- There is always some sort of biscuit with dinner.

- Meals are fried, 9 times out of 10.

- The ladies don't walk out of the house unless their hair is curled and set. And lipstick is on.

- If there's a celebration... they don't just bring their family, they bring the whole block.

- "Ma'am?" means "what", "pardon me" or "huh?" (took me a while to get that one)

- No ma'am and yes ma'am is expected when speaking to someone.

- Half of them work darn hard to get what the have, and the other half expect it to be handed to them.

- A "hot minute" really means a long time.
Example: I ain't seen you in a hot minute! (I haven't seen you in a long time)

- "Finin" really means "Fixin" and that really means "getting ready to... "
Example: I'm finin to finish that.
huh?

- They are durn proud of the South and all it has to offer.
(durn means darn)

We have met some pretty amazing people here... and as many days as it took me to get used to living in the South, I'd do it again in a minute! See you in 2013, y'all!

Future Furniture!

My first big purchase in my adult life was living room furniture. Not the most exciting thing in the world... but at the young age of 23, it was huge. I was so proud of myself to have a pretty couch and loveseat, and real end tables and a coffee table.... I was officially an adult. My little apartment was finally cute!

Well... that furniture made it's move from Idaho to Georgia with me and have served us quite well.... but it's time for some new ones. So when Andy told me that when he comes home from deployment, we can get a new living room set... I was thrilled!!

To me, new living room furniture = new living room decor! So of course... to pinterest I go.

Our couches now are a dark green microfiber, and they've held up very well... but I'm not sure I want a dark color next time. I definitely want the microfiber... but I might go with a khaki color, or a neutral tone. But I have to keep in mind... we have a dog. And someday in the future we'll have babies... and I'm needing our furniture to last a while, so it needs to hold up.

Here are a few ideas that I'm loving....

I love the chase lounge on this.... perfect for napping!

I also want some sort of accent chair.... I just feel like it gives the room a little character.

I am leaning towards this type of curtain...
Cream flower topped curtains

Something simple, yet chic.

and I'm loving these rugs....

What do you have for furniture? Anything you absolutely love??

Orders are in { weekend update }

Happy Monday! It's my last dreaded Monday for a while! It's not that I dread Monday, I don't mind coming in to work... I just hate that alarm clock after not having it for two days.

We had a extremely lazy weekend.... Friday night I went and saw Twilight with some friends and their husbands.. Andy was on his way and then they call him back to work (sad!) so he didn't make it. And then to find out that they only needed him for about 10 minutes (this was at 6:20 at night!) ugh, Army. It was a good movie but I had a hard time concetrating because I missed him, so we might just have to go see it again. Saturday we slept in a little bit, cleaned the house, ran errands and had breakfast at the Waffle House then went and got pedicures. I love those kinds of outings :) Sunday I was up early with miss Daisy so I took a 2 1/2 hour nap that afternoon and we didn't even change out of our pajamas.
It was wonderful!

Andy is getting his orders today...

and we leave for Idaho on Thursday!

It's going to be an interesting few weeks... my last day at work is Wednesday and then we'll be opening up the next chapter of life. I'm enjoying these little moment I have with Andy while I can... I know the days ahead are going to be busy.

This little one was very attached to Andy this weekend. I know it sounds silly, but I have a feeling she knows what's going on. She saw me crying pretty hard Saturday morning, and she did exactly what she is suppose to do... cuddle with momma!

There are moments that I break down in tears because I'm scared. I fear the day I have to tell Andy "see you in 9 months"... and I long for the days when the deployment is behind us.
It's the life we live, but it doesn't get easier.

I hope your Monday is a good one, mine will be because at the end of the day I get to go hug and kiss my husband! There's no sweeter thing.

Confessional Friday...

Let's start this Friday off right! Link up with Leslie to view other confession sessions!

I Confess.....

1. That this is my last Friday at work... and to top it off, I get a full weekend and I'm beyond happy!

2. We are going to see Twilight Breaking Dawn: Part 2 tonight! I don't get giddy over R-Pat and Taylor, but I will admit, I'm excited to get this series over with!

3. I am going for a much needed mani/pedi/wax appointment tomorrow and I'm quite excited. I think it's time to bring back the dark red toes for the holiday season. And it's Andy's favorite, so I think I will.
4. I have been curious for quite some time... do any of you ladies wax your face? You know, those unwanted baby hairs.... do you wax them? or ignore them?

5. I only have 3 more working days (besides today) left and I'm SO excited. I'm ready for a vacation and then a break to spend some much needed time with my hubby!

6. I'm scared to death of this deployment.

7. I hate when people tell me "at least you don't have kids" when I tell them Andy's deploying. You are right, we don't have kids... but it's still hard, and it's still a huge transition for us. Kids or no kids.

8. Everywhere I go I see adorable Christmas decor.... and I cannot buy it. Why? Because it will only sit in storage... :( Maybe next year on our third Christmas together we can get some cute Christmas stuff!

9. On that Christmas note... I saw this on Pinterest and I'm in love!

Looks harder than heck to make, but it might be worth it. Or I wonder if I could just buy it??

10. I have red nails...

and a green shrug today....
Christmas much??

Have a great weekend everyone!
