4. Lane Bryant is having a BOGO sale today... it's taking everything in me to not go over there and drop a few bucks.

5. I really want to go to the ocean this weekend but it's such a far drive :/ decisions decisions....

6. I confess that I'm ready for the elections to be over. 'nuff said.

7. My husband turns 30 in 3 weeks and 1 day and I count my blessings daily that I'm married to him!! He's really quite amazing. :)

8. If I hear one more student complain today, I might give them a piece of my mind.

August 29, 2011

I didn't have a better title for this post... quite frankly, I wasn't even sure I wanted to write about it... but here we are a year and one day later.... alive and well... and tumor free!

I went into the Emergency Room the beginning of August 2011 for what I thought was a simple migraine headache... it was the worst pain I had ever had in my life! I HATE going to the doctor and I really hate the Emergency Room... bad things happen there! However, I was desperate and really needed to be treated. The doctor came in, examined me and pushed real hard on my stomach/bikini line area. OWWWWW! Horrific pain went all the way down to my toes, back up to my head and back down again. What in the world was he pushing on my tummy when I was there for a headache?! He sent me for an MRI thinking it was some sort of bowel obstruction or something. Ummm ok, I could see how that could cause a migraine, but really? c'mon buddy. Well, I'm pretty happy he ordered that MRI!

I went in for my MRI, drugged and sleepy. We were back in the emergency room within an hour and the doctor came in with a worried look on his face. He told my husband and I that I had a teratoma tumor on my right ovary and that I would need surgery sooner than later to take it out. It would have to be biopsied and we would go from there.

Umm.... excuse me?! what did you say??

So, the next week I was in the OB office, because she would be the one doing the surgery. After a vaginal ultrasound and another scan, they said it was about the size of a softball. All I was thinking was, why me? Why now? 2 months after my husband had a total ACL replacement surgery and BARELY off crutches... what did I do to deserve this??

August 29, 2011 I went in for what was probably the scariest day of my life. I was a nervous wreck! I tried to do my hair, I couldn't. I tried to take a good shower because it was the last one I would take on my own for a few weeks... I barely could do that because I just started crying. I was hungry because I couldn't eat anything after midnight, I was trying not to snap at Andy because he was just there to help... but I did.
And then, he just held me... let me cry and told me everything was going to be ok.

And it was. It was all ok.

Waking up from surgery with my husband right by my side.
Best thing to wake up to.

The surgery was successful, they did NOT have to take my right ovary, which she had prepared me that they would most likely have to. I was up walking that night ... I made it about 20 feet leaning on my IV pole as a crutch my husband right by my side, my good friend on the other side, and the nurse behind me. I made it!

Now all that's left is a 6 inch scar on my binkini line and a tumor free lifestyle.
My husband was absolutely amazing through it all, my doctor was perfect, and the report saying the tumor was cancer-free was even better!!

2011 was a roller-coaster year for us, but I would not change a thing! We said our vows in February and in June and August learned what it really meant when we said "in sickness and health."

I am blessed beyond words to be married to Andy, and I'm pretty sure God put that tumor in me to show me that even tho we are tested, we still will rise above.

So... August 29th will always be a special day for me... it's the day I was reminded that you need to live life to it's fullest. Don't let the little petty things bother you. I may not be size 4 and have a perfect body, but I have life.... and that my friends, is all you really need.

Help :(

I really want to make a header, but I'm apparently using too much space?? what?! They are wanting me to purchase more space to have a cute little header. :(

what do I do??

Three Weeks!

First of all.... it feels like it should be Friday! I woke up thinking it had to at least be Thursday, but no.... unfortunately it's only Wednesday. I guess tha's better than Monday or Tuesday tho, right?

On a positive note....

3 WEEKS FROM TODAY my sister in law, brother in law, and one of my good friends come to visit!!! All the way from Idaho and San Diego, California! I could not be more excited!!!

We've been here since February of 2011 and this is only our 2nd set of visitors!
(if you are reading this friends and family, that's a hint....) ;)
kidding. kind of.

My sweet friend Brittany...

and one of my favorite couples in the whole wide world (who just happens to be my BIL and SIL) are coming!!!!

And then 4 days after they get here... this sweet man turns 30!!!

It's going to be a blast!!!!

4 weeks sounds like it's so far away... 3 weeks starts the countdown for me :)
Although, let's be honest... I've been counting down since they booked their tickets!

Happy Wednesday!

Get to know your blogger! { link up }

When my husband and I first started dating, we would play the 20 question game.... it was a great way to pass the time that he was in the bus going to AIT and it was a great way to get to know each other even more...

As I read through blogs, I try to picture these peoples day to day lives.... what they eat for breakfast, what they do on their "off blogging" times, what their favorite time of the year is, etc. As we have new people come to check out our blogs, I thought it would be fun to do a little get to know your fellow blogger!

The Rules: There are none, just have fun and give us a little insight on your life! :)

If you want to join in, copy and paste into your post and make sure you tag others that you want to know about.

What is your name?
Who were you named after?
Where are you from?
What is your favorite memory growing up?
How many siblings do you have?
Are you married?
How did you meet your significant other?
 Do you have any kids?
Do you have any pets?
What is your favorite time of year?
What is one beauty product that you cannot live without?
What is your favorite store to shop at?
If you could ask God one question, what would it be?
Who is your hero?
In 1 word how would your friends describe you?
What's your favorite breakfast food?
What is your dream job?
What's the best job you've ever had?
What is one item you couldn't live without?
What's your favorite color of nail polish?
What would you love to change about your blog?

So.... here we go!! :)

What is your name?
Randi Sue (Dunivant) Rodriguez  --- Dunivant was my maiden name, no I do not hyphenate it :)

Who were you named after?
Randi - my dad's name was Randy, Sue - My mom's name is Susan... and I went by "Randi Sue" until I was 8, then my dad passed away and now I just go by Randi... but my extended family still calls me Randi Sue and secretly I love it.

Where are you from?
I was born in San Diego, California then moved to Phoenix, Arizona (well a little town outside of Phoenix called Buckeye), then to Utah, then to Idaho... I lived in Boise, Idaho for 10 years so that's what I claim.... and for those that have never been to Idaho, put it on your bucket list! It's AMAZING!

Yes... home of the "smurf turf"... and darn proud of it! ;)

What is your favorite memory growing up?
Being in the delivery room when my baby sister (who is now 15 almost 16) came into this world. I witnessed a miracle when that little baby full of chocolate brown hair came out screaming. Her and my little brother Nate have been my little ray of sunshine and I hope that our kids are as amazing as they are!

{ Me, Jack (our nephew) and Hattie }
How many siblings do you have?
I have 2 brothers - JD and Nathan who are 30 and 18, and Hattie who is 15. I also have a step sister who is 28, and a step brother who is 33. And some really great brothers and sisters in law!

Yes! To the most amazing man in the world who is full of unconditional love for me! :)

My moisturizer .... if you don't do anything else to your face, make sure you moisturize!
Mine happens to have 25 SPF in it, and it protects my skin so well!

What is your favorite store to shop at?
For home decor - Hands down Hobby Lobby!
For clothes - lately it's become Cato, but it changes frequently....

If you could ask God one question, what would it be?
I don't know if I would. I've often thought about asking why he took my dad away at such a young age, but I know He had a plan and he gave me another daddy who raised me as his own and I wouldn't have changed a thing... he was my first love and never made me doubt that I was his daughter.

Who is your hero?
My mother. Cliche' maybe... but let me tell you why...
My mom lost her husband at 31, she had 2 kids, she had a positive attitude about the whole thing and went on with life... she married her high school sweetheart and had 2 more kids... she raised 2 teenagers and 2 toddlers while my dad was in the Army and not always home (between work and training), and is now about to graduate college! She's pretty amazing if you ask me.
I hope to be half the mom she is.

What would you love to change about your blog?
I would LOVE to have more followers and a cuter design.... but for both, I just need to take the time and make it happen! :)

So now here's my problem... I want to make it a link up, but I have no idea how... Will you link up by leaving a comment? and then will someone tell me how to do that?? :)

Have a great day!

Happy Monday { weekend review }

We had a nice and realxing weekend for the most part.... Friday night Andy and I went to our favorite little Mexican restaurant then went and rented some movies but we ended up watching something on TV the rest of the night, so on Saturday morning we watched one of the movies (Friends with Kids..... weird movie), and just relaxed a little while before going to the gym.

Daisy loved the very relaxing weekend :)

After the gym we had lunch at Subway then we watched the other movie called Contraband.. it was pretty good and relaxed some more. Sunday my sweet hubby let me sleep in until almost 11:00! I haven't slept that late in a while and it was so nice!!

After I got up we cleaned the house then I went to the gym and took Daisy to the dog park while Andy went to workout... then my awesome husband cleaned the garage, it needed some major TLC, while I cleaned the closets and the random cleaning that I tend to put off... :)

Daisy took a good nap while we cleaned. She loves her little "pinky".

I love when we have fun weekends, but I also love when we have relaxing weekends at home.

Now... to take on Monday. Wish me luck! ;)
Next weekend is a 3 day weekend!

What are your plans for the weekend??

We are having a mandatory lock ourselves in the house and relax with movies and whatever else kind of weekend. We have been going going going and we just need a weekend to chillax!

Kind of like this....
We have an amazingly comfy king size bed.... and I find these 2 in the guest room.

I'll blame it on Andy, because wherever mommy or daddy is sleeping... little miss is right there with them! So I can almost be sure that he laid first, then she, like a good dog followed.

I love them.

T-Minus 10 hours and I'll be getting dinner to go, laying in bed watching Suits with my 2 loves.

happy weekend y'all!

Friday Eve... { My Confessions }

I'm doing my Friday confessions a little early today because I am at a blogger block and I don't know if I'll have much time tomorrow.... sigh.

Link up over at Leslie's blog and you'll find some more confessors (tomorrow of course).

Ready, set, go!

1. I confess that this week has been crazy. Tuesday I was home with the pukey's and it was miserable! I got up to shower, puke, I got up to go to the bathroom, puke.... no bueno my friends, no bueno!

2. Since I was out Tuesday my week has been crazy!! I'm working late tonight (10-7 when I normally work 8-5) and I'm all thrown off! ugh.

3. I am a girl who has cuuuuuuurly hair. It takes a small village really good CHI and some good product to get my locks straight... so I just need to embrace my curls and just go with it. And thanks to this new product, I have!

My coworker told me about it and I'm in curl heaven! I used it this morning, my curls are not crunchy, hardly any frizz, soft and wavy like Taylor Swift's and amazing! If you have curls, go get you some... you'll never look back at gel, mouse, or whatever else is out there again!

4. This is the final product. Remember, during the week days I'm a little rushed, so I'm anxious to see how it will be on the weekends! ;)

5. My hubby's birthday celebration is less than a month away and I've got the hotel booked, restaurant reserved and I'm SO excited to get this party started!!!

6. I confess that when I sent my hubby the picture above this morning, he sent me this back...

.... and I got butterflies.

7. We are getting some important news within the next few days, and I'm nervous.

That's all folks! Happy Friday eve!

Weekend fun!

We had a great  weekend! It was slow enough to relax but eventful enough to say we actually did something fun! ha! We like those kinds of weekends :)

Friday night we went to dinner with our friends Todd, Kelly and Emily at our home away from home... our favorite Mexican restaurant that we typically go to every Friday night.... and I just adore our waitor! He's so sweet, knows our order and is just so on top of it! He and Andy speak Spanish to eachother, so it's cute. I just sit there and smile. :)

Saturday we went and saw Expendibles 2 with our friends Mike and Vilma.... I hadn't seen the first one until Friday night, but it was pretty good! We went to this movie theater called "The Big D" and it's HUGE!!!! Andy said the screen had to have been 100 feet by 100 feet, and the seats were comfy leather seats that rocked! I loved it! The popcorn wasn't so amazing, but hey you can't have everything right??

Then after the movie we went to look at some hotels that I want to book for Andy's birthday. I am a visual person and I needed to SEE them! :) Well... we found 2 that we love!!! They are both RIGHT on the river... like literally you take the elevator down and there's River street! It was amazing!!!

We stopped at a place called Wet Willies to have a drink then we walked by a candy shop... well if you know us, you know we LOVE carmel apples... so Andy got one, and I got only 1 bite out of the whole thing!! ha ha! The bridge is  INSANELY huge!

This is the view off one of the hotels! It was amazing! I wish I would have taken a picture on the other side where the river is. Next time!

It was hot and muggy and I look awful, but here we are in front of the river :)

We stopped and had dinner at Five Guys and the french fry potatoes are from Blackfoot! Which is about 2 or 3 hours from where we are from :)

We definitely want to go back soon! Isn't it sad that we've been here since February of 2011 and this is our first time venturing out (on foot) to downtown.

Sunday night I made Puerto Rican food! Rice, beans, pork chops, plantains and avocado! It was DELICIOUS! It's not as good as our friends Melody and Carlos make it... but it was good enough for us to scarf it down! :)

Happy Monday everyone!

Good Dog vs. Bad Dog!

First off.... 2 posts on FRIDAY! THAT's how excited I am that the weekend is finally here! :)

Andy and I have been told by lots of people that our dog is really well behaved... and how cute she is... and how she has manners... and we don't let it go to our head by any means, because we've worked our little fur-parents tooshes off to make her be well behaved. And I don't take credit for it... My good friend Brittany has the MOST WELL BEHAVED golden retriever named Marley and she was my inspiration!

Meet Marley....

She set a very high expectation for Daisy. :)

Anyways.... Here are some tips for raising a good, well-behaved polite puppy.

I read books, articles, and googled everything that had to do with potty training because it's seriously not as easy for some dogs as it is for others.

My advice for potty training your new puppy....

- take them out every 2 hours whether they have drank water, ate food or not.
- use the SAME door every time you go out. Otherwise she'll get confused on which door to go to.
- give them a reward when they do do their business outside. Daisy STILL (at 17 months and almost 90 pounds) runs up to sit on the very edge of the kitchen for her "bisquit". And if you say "bisquit", she runs to that mat and waits. Those are serious words around our house!
- if the pup potties in the house... don't rub their nose in it. It doesn't do anything, trust me. Instead... take her over and say "no girl!" and put her in time out (we used a kennel) ... and don't waste time with the carpet cleaners... rubbing alcohol takes anything out of the floor... TRUST ME! :)
- most of all, when the puppy pottys outside... throw a party!! cheer for her like your home town team is winning the biggest game of their life! They LOVE the cheering and will go again just to get that love from their momma or daddy!

My advice for command words or phrases....

Here are some words/phrases that Daisy knows:
Car, Daycare, Ride, Park, Bisquit, get on the bed, get off the bed, go to daddy, go to mommy, do you need water?, do you need food?, go to your kennel, where's your ball?, give me a hug... etc.

The list goes on and on. We talk to Daisy like she can understand us. We don't do baby talk, we don't do puppy talk, she's a humungous dog and she can understand just fine when we talk to her like we talk to each other. Don't get me wrong, there's times that I saw "who's my pretty girl??" in a high pitch voice... but not all the time. We don't yell at her unless it's ABSOLUTELY necessary because they HATE that.... but sometimes, you need to get your point accross so save that for when you really need it.

Don't get upset when they tear your stuff apart... Daisy shredded our down comforter, the floor, her toys and a few other things... but it was her way of saying "get me some exercise before I go insane!" it's their cry for help... what is it that your dog needs? Why is she begging for something? We've learned that if we take Daisy to the dog park 1-2 times a week, Daycare 1-2 times a month and play ball almost every night.... she's an angel! The puppy stage will pass... don't give up on your dog because they will NEVER give up on you.

This is Daisy listening to her daddy when he was telling her why she shouldn't run around the house like a crazy dog. :) She laid down after that. She listens to him!

One of the BEST things we've ever taught Daisy was "Daisy, Kitchen".... this means Daisy, get out of the kitchen. That is the one place she is not allowed... and she knows it! I dont' know about you, but I prefer no dog hair in my food ;)

However.... we do allow her on our bed and on the couch. Everyone is different so this is all in what you prefer... but for us, she's our baby and we want to make sure she is rewarded for the good and disciplined for the bad. There are times that she can cuddle with us... but when we say "End of the bed" she knows to go down to her blanket.

So there you go.... a glimpse into our little princess! She's not perfect, but she's perfect for us and we adore her!! :)

Happy weekend to you and your puppy!

Confessional Friday!

It's FRIDAY..... and that means it's time for another Confessional Friday! Link up over at Leslie's Blog for some other confessions!

1. I confess that I have gone to bed every single night this week no later than  9:30.... and I love it! Let me just get out my denture cream and moo-moo night gown and confess that I feel like an old woman! Ugh.

2. I confess that my jeans were a little bit of a squeeze to get into this morning. :( But.... I blame it on the birthday weekend and the good supply of carbs and sugar. I was back in the gym last night and had healthy sushi for dinner... so we're back at it!

3. I confess that when my sister in law Jade sent me this picture of Jack yesterday with the caption "loungin by the pool" I laughed for about 5 minutes. This kid kills me. Legs crossed, drink in the cup holder just checking out his food..... love that boy!

4. I confess that tonight, I might be in bed by 9. And sleep until 10 am. Don't judge.

5. I confess that I almost cried like a baby last night because I have a canker sore on my tongue that HURTS to high heaven!!!

6. I confess that we let Daisy sleep in our bed last night.  She sleeps at the end of the bed... but she does love her cuddle time at the top with mom and dad.

7. I confess that I haven't painted my nails at all this week! Weird, right?

8. I confess that this baby below is me. And I hope and pray that our babies look like Andy because he was cute. Me on the other hand.... not so much! Not even a big bow would have made me cute! Bless my mother for loving me no matter what! ha ha!

9. I confess that I was grumpy with my husband last night while we were at the gym... and we texted to make up. Yes folks, we text when we are right by each other (in public.)

10. I confess that I'm head over heels in love with this man. He may not be perfect, but he is perfect for me!

Happy Friday!!! :) Have a great weekend!

Sleepy Head....

First off.... can I get an AMEN for Friday-Even?!?!

I have felt SO tired this week!! Every night I'm out like a light by 9:30 at the latest! Last night I think it was closer to 9. I feel so bad because my sweet husband has to put Daisy away and listen to me snore while he's trying to watch Sports. Wife of the year award right here folks!

I don't know if it's because we had a busy weekend and I'm still recovering... or because work has been weird or because my Thyroid is acting up again... or what?! but I'm tired! I even snooze my alarm for a good 30 minutes. I'd rather have that extra 30 minutes of sleep than straighten my hair! oops!

Someone else has been sleeping alot too... Maybe she gets it from me??

Girlfriend loves her armrest!

I love that she sleeps so hard that she snores. :)

This is what happened on the way home from work.
BAD storm = trees in the road ... and then we all had to drive off the road into the deep mud to get home. Awesome.

My little car went "muddin"...

Sweet girl got a bath for the party!

I made an earring holder this weekend! :)
